Worldwide the weather is changing, but so far North Wales still enjoys the four seasons.
Summer is with us before we know it and those hot balmy days see the lake full of sail boats. Walkers take to the trails and the whole area buzzes with life. The hedgerows are a mass of honeysuckle and dog rose, the streams that were rushing with rain water are now lazily meandering towards the lake and the air is filled with dragonflies and butterflies.
Haymaking gets into full swing in July and the villages around the lake hold their annual shows with prizes for cakes, vegetables, livestock, sheep dog trials and sheep shearing. Then before you know it, the hedgerows are full of blackberries and then the first signs of the coming season starts to show.
Autumn is the time for the broadleaf trees to turn glorious shades of red and gold and there are many trails that you can follow in the forests to see these striking colours close up. The toadstools, bright red and gold pop up in their fairy rings. The squirrels are busy hoarding the cob nuts ready for the cold that is coming.
Winter is here again and the wind comes down off the mountains and brings with it a deluge of cool clear rain. Time to wrap up warm, dust off the waterproofs and enjoy long solitary hikes.
Snow blankets the hills and valleys and brings with it a magic that we all relish. Watch the buzzards duel with the Ravens high in the windswept sky.
Then home for a warm drink by a roaring log fire. Bliss.
